Karl Michael “K.M.” Dehmelt is a writer who currently lives in Manville, New Jersey. He previously lived in Spain for a number of years, including in Madrid, where he wrote Daft Mejora’s Infinite Madness as a member of the city’s social scene while studying and working as a language assistant, and where he maintains many relationships. Daft Mejora, Karl’s fourth book, received critical acclaim and comparisons to both Kurt Vonnegut and Hunter S. Thompson. Recently, Karl was selected by Marquis Who’s Who in America for inclusion in their 2025-2026 edition of notable American professionals, primarily thanks to Daft Mejora and his work in various marketing and outreach positions in both Pennsylvania and New Jersey. A graduate of Loyola University Maryland, Karl has attended the Kenyon Review Writers’ Workshops in Fiction and was a member of the Magnificent S**t, an international collective of writers whom he met in Patmos, Greece, due to their shared appreciation of Mary Karr and George Saunders and the workshop they shared with them on the Isle. His fifth full length project, Our Perfect World!, was released onto the internet archive in 2025, in the same vein as Daft Mejora prior to the latter’s publication through Apprentice House Press. He is a proud survivor of a childhood traumatic brain injury, and he considers art, writing, and the pursuit of shared connection through creativity to be the work of his life.
